Ponte Vedra Beach, FL

What the concrete is like here

Ponte Vedra concrete has a harder life than concrete five miles inland. Salt carries in off the ocean, settles on the slab and stays there, and the sun does the rest. Pool decks here see chlorine or salt water from one side and salt air from the other.

That combination is what breaks coatings. Standard epoxy chalks, yellows and then lets go at the edges, usually starting on the west facing side of the deck. Polyurethane is UV stable and chemically more resistant, which is why every outdoor job we do here is specified in it.

We work across Sawgrass, the Players Club, Palm Valley and the oceanfront streets. Older properties often need genuine repair before any coating, and we will tell you up front if that is the case rather than coating over a problem.

Why it matters in Florida

Polyurethane instead of epoxy

Epoxy is cheaper to buy and it is genuinely fine indoors, away from daylight. Outdoors in Ponte Vedra Beach it yellows, chalks and lets go at the edges. Every exterior job we do is specified in polyurethane for that reason.

PolyurethaneWhat we use

  • About five times stronger than epoxy
  • UV stable, so it does not yellow
  • Resists pool chemicals and oil
  • Built for outdoors and high traffic
  • Longer service life

EpoxyWhat we replace

  • Less durable under traffic
  • Prone to yellowing in sunlight
  • Scratches more easily
  • Shorter lifespan outdoors
  • Not made for Florida sun
