What the concrete is like here
St. Augustine is two jobs in one market. The new building out toward the west and the 207 corridor gives us flat, young slabs that coat easily. Closer to the water and through the older neighborhoods, the concrete is decades old and has been taking salt air the whole time.
Salt is the thing to design around here. It works into porous concrete, it accelerates surface breakdown, and it is unforgiving on a coating that was not specified for it. Polyurethane handles it. Standard epoxy does not, which is why we do not sell it for outdoor work.
We cover the city, the beaches, Anastasia Island and the World Golf Village side. Free estimate and a straight answer on what your slab needs.

Polyurethane instead of epoxy
Epoxy is cheaper to buy and it is genuinely fine indoors, away from daylight. Outdoors in St. Augustine it yellows, chalks and lets go at the edges. Every exterior job we do is specified in polyurethane for that reason.
PolyurethaneWhat we use
- About five times stronger than epoxy
- UV stable, so it does not yellow
- Resists pool chemicals and oil
- Built for outdoors and high traffic
- Longer service life
EpoxyWhat we replace
- Less durable under traffic
- Prone to yellowing in sunlight
- Scratches more easily
- Shorter lifespan outdoors
- Not made for Florida sun
