What the concrete is like here

St. Johns covers an enormous spread of recent building, from the 210 corridor out to the river. The housing stock is mixed in age in a way that matters for coatings: the newer sections have flat, sound slabs that are ready to coat, while the late nineties and early two thousands build-out is now at the age where spalling and cracking show up.

The two most common calls we get here are a garage floor the owner wants finished properly rather than left grey, and a pool deck that has been pressure washed one time too many and has gone chalky. Both are a day or two of work.

We cover Durbin Crossing, Julington Creek Plantation, Aberdeen, Shearwater, Bartram and the streets off Longleaf Pine. Free estimate before anything starts.

Why it matters in Florida

Polyurethane instead of epoxy

Epoxy is cheaper to buy and it is genuinely fine indoors, away from daylight. Outdoors in St. Johns it yellows, chalks and lets go at the edges. Every exterior job we do is specified in polyurethane for that reason.

PolyurethaneWhat we use

  • About five times stronger than epoxy
  • UV stable, so it does not yellow
  • Resists pool chemicals and oil
  • Built for outdoors and high traffic
  • Longer service life

EpoxyWhat we replace

  • Less durable under traffic
  • Prone to yellowing in sunlight
  • Scratches more easily
  • Shorter lifespan outdoors
  • Not made for Florida sun
